These 2 photos were cut out and juxtaposed in my sketchbook. For some reason, I just think that’s kind of perfect.
Hope you’re having a *lovely* weekend!
Today I flipped through the holiday issue of Rue, and one thing led to another…
First of all, I am absolutely in *love* with the cover! from the glittery title to the gorgeous bouffant & emerald dress.
Then, I saw on Lara’s blog that she actually shot the *lovely* Belle before she left Atlanta!
Which, of course, reminded me of the impeccable style of the Belle that the layout is a tribute to: Dolly! If you *love* her like I do, or you just have a thing for big hair, you must check out the style file I put together last summer!
Also if you *love* the layout, you’ll definitely want to check out more of Lara Rossignol’s photography. Her Website // Her Blog // The Q&A I did with Lara last year on my old blog

The other night I was flipping through flickr, hoping to get a little inspiration, when I happened upon the most beautiful, surreal photography. The most surprising ____? The subject was a book, or perhaps I should say a story. You see, photographer Juliette Tang starts with a book and then picks objects to represent different parts of the text. The result is perfectly dreamy photography for any avid reader…

Visit Juliette’s website // her tumblr // and be sure to follow her on Twitter & say hello… she’s super sweet!
1.) I have been coveting this custom dress Tory Burch wore ever since the CFDAs! What star were you fawning over?
2.) I am totally in *love* with TradHome (the fab online mag, that I wish was a real-live-holdable-magazine) created by a partnership between Lonny & Traditional Home. In particular, I thought this Proper Table Setting tutorial from Mrs. Lilien (of Sunday Suppers) was the perfect little addition to the Belle’s home handbook…
3.) How much do you *love* this hat?
4.) If you aren’t on Pinterest, you should be. It’s the perfect distraction when you’re waiting in an elevator or lunch line. One of my *favorite* pinners is Ez of Creature Comforts. (Click here to see the rest of this mood board she made for her sister’s wedding and here to follow her on Pinterest.)
5.) These bottles were designed by a student at the Fashion Institute, and I saw them on The Dieline. I’m adoring the typography!

{Orange for your home from Anthropologie }
{ You know what makes a great orange cape better? A cat mask & Audrey Hepburn, of course! }
{ More Lonny, issue 3 }
{ Ride in style on a Public bike }
{ Kate Spade // Tory Burch }
{ I adore this orange typewriter… as well as the beautiful room in this photoshoot from Matchbook 5 }
The other day I saw this photo on Pinterest, and it totally made me *swoon!* As I believe I’ve mentioned before, I have a special affinity for giraffes because I have always related to their elongated physique, and I just love how fantastical they seem. So on that note, here’s a bit of random long-necked, whimsical inspiration to brighten up your Thursday afternoon…
Some ladies have a garden,
some women paint their shutters pink,
others accessorize their home for Spring in a more *unique* fashion.
HAPPY SPRING!
Life has been a bit of a whirlwind lately here at the Slaughterhouse. We are redoing a lot of things around the house that I’ll be sharing in the coming weeks. In fact, as I type this Husband & one of our besties are literally re-wiring the entire downstairs in our little 1935 home. In the next few weeks, Husband will be finishing out his last school year as a high school band director and preparing to move on to the MBA program at UT. I’ve been in my new job at Scripps for about a month and just wrapped up my first really big project. It was exciting and scary and the amount that I’ve learned over the past two weeks kind of makes my head spin. However, I really feel like we are right where we’re exactly where we’re supposed to be.
Don’t you just *love* Spring? The weather lately is unpredictable and has been every bit as scary as it has been beautiful, but in everything it’s seemed to serve as a reminder that the world serves something that is bigger and more powerful than we can know. Things are blooming, the landscape is changing and I am very content to say that I don’t know exactly what the future holds. Isn’t that exhilarating?
