*7 Random Things*

Article Posted on Tuesday, August 17th, 2010 at 9:49 am

Good morning, loves! Today I thought I’d throw together some of the fun things I’ve been seeing around the interwebs lately…

1.)  Alternative quilter Boo Davis was featured in t he New York Times this past weekend. One leap for quilting, one giant leap for taking old arts into the next century!

2.)  I’m sort of in love with the work of Mr. Hyde & the hat rack on his contact page! These are just some stills, but you really should go watch some of the full animations on his site!

3.)  Speaking of videos this is the most beautiful concept I’ve seen in a really long time.

4.)  As you know, I *love* the photography of Lara Rossignol, but I did want to share here 2 things she’s done lately that I especially like. First of all, the peek into the house of Mo + Me is too cute! The use of bright colors & patterns make it super fun!

Second, the sneak peek into Atlanta-based cookie maven, Rooster 14′s process is just beautiful. I cannot say enough about Lara’s style! (Warning: It will make you hungry, but she’s giving away a box to 1 lucky reader so it’s ok!) And really, how cute is that logo?

{If you’d like to read a little more about Lara, the eye behind the lens of the Piewacket blog, click here!}

5.) I’m also loving this little tour/interview on sfgirlbybay of the home of Tamar Schechner! Such lovely florals & bright patterns!

6.)  Be sure to hop on over to my friend Stacie’s blog, Gingibersnap, to read the interview with her fellow doodler Miss Laura George! Super cool stuff, and Laura evidently has a penchant for monsters just like myself so who can resist that really?

7.)  Brittney Lee works for the Visual Development Dept. at Disney, and I have been  in love with her work for quite some time now. Not only are her drawings  fantastic, she also does really amazing illustrations that start with cut paper like this one. You can read more about this illustration (part of the Peck ‘n’Paw book from various Disney artists) by visiting her blog.

*Have a happy Tuesday!*

*new acquisitions*

Article Posted on Thursday, July 22nd, 2010 at 2:20 pm

First off, I wanted to let you know that in trying to get the quirks of this new blog just right, I’ve finally updated the sidebar. You can access the old blog archives, update your RSS feed (by clicking *subscribe to the feed*), check out my design site, shop, etc. and also go take a look at some of my favorite blogs and grab a B’s Wig Shoppe button to put on your blog. Now that that is taken care of…

Recently, I have been lucky enough to acquire some amazing & beautiful new sewing books. Moving closer to my dream of becoming a full-time haberdasher, I’ve been reading these during my free-time. The first 2 were stumbled upon at the Knitting Mill in Chattanooga and are not only great books but also were inexpensive ($4 & $5). The Singer books were given to me by my mom (an amazing seamstress… check out her blog here & an interview I did with her here). I can remember looking through these books when I was little and sketching out little outfits for her to make. My very favorite was a black t*shirt dress (see instructions for that here) with a black & white gingham ruffle on the bottom and a gingham cat to match on the dress. (This was before my dreadful fear of cats set in.)

Now if I could just get a new sewing machine! (Goldie finally bit the dust.) I hope these inspired you a little. Today is the last day of band camp for Husband… thank goodness! So I am off to straighten the house a little and then head over to the school for a little performance and BBQ.

Happy Thursday!
